You have to make this!! When you need a fast and fabulous dessert to feed a crowd, this is it!


  • 1 stick of butter (8 tablespoons)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour

For Mom’s Famous Filling:

  • 1 pint of heavy cream
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/3 cup of milk

Makes approximately 16 cream puffs.


  1. In a saucepan, bring the butter, water, and vanilla extract to a boil.
  2. Add the flour and stir constantly until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pot. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until the dough is smooth.
  4. Drop tablespoons of the dough onto parchment-lined cookie sheets.
  5. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool.
  6. Slice the cooled cream puffs in half horizontally.
  7. For the filling, beat the heavy cream, instant vanilla pudding mix, and milk in a mixer until thick like whipped cream.
  8. Pipe or scoop Mom’s filling into each cream puff.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar.
