Greek Kebabs

Presentation and History:
Greek kebabs, a beloved dish originating from Greece, consist of skewers of marinated meat, traditionally pork, chicken, or lamb. Grilled to perfection, these kebabs are tender, juicy, and bursting with Mediterranean flavors.

1 pound of meat (pork, chicken, lamb), cut into bite-sized pieces
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional: diced onion, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes for skewering

In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
Add the meat pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour, or ideally overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Thread the marinated meat onto skewers, alternating with optional diced onion, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes if desired.
Grill the skewers for approximately 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and achieves a slight char on the edges.
Serve the Greek kebabs hot, accompanied by tzatziki sauce, warm pita bread, and your favorite Greek salad or side dishes.
Tips and Advice:

For added depth of flavor, marinate the meat overnight in the refrigerator.
Soaking wooden skewers in water prior to grilling helps prevent them from burning.
Experiment with different combinations of vegetables for added variety and color on your skewers.
Enjoy your culinary journey through the flavors of Greece with these succulent Greek kebabs!
